In the year that King Uzziah died, Isaiah saw the Lord seated on a high and exalted throne, and the train of His robe filled the temple. Above Him stood seraphim, each with six wings, calling to one another, Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory. At their voices the doorposts shook, and the temple filled with smoke. Isaiah cried out that he was ruined, for he was a man of unclean lips living among a people of unclean lips, and his eyes had seen the King, the LORD of hosts. Then one of the seraphim flew to him with a burning coal taken from the altar, touched his lips with it, and declared that his guilt was taken away and his sin atoned for. Then Isaiah heard the voice of the Lord asking whom He should send and who would go for them. Isaiah answered, Here am I, send me. God commissioned him to go and speak to a people who would not listen, a hard calling, but Isaiah went as God's messenger.
