Story Summary

On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and Jesus, His mother, and His disciples were invited. When the wine ran out, Jesus' mother told Him that they had no more wine. Jesus responded that His hour had not yet come, but Mary told the servants to do whatever He said. Nearby stood six stone water jars used for ceremonial washing, each holding twenty to thirty gallons. Jesus told the servants to fill the jars with water, and they filled them to the brim. Then He told them to draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet. When the master tasted the water that had become wine, not knowing where it came from, he called the bridegroom and remarked that most people serve the best wine first, but he had saved the best for last. This was the first of Jesus' miraculous signs, performed in Cana of Galilee. Through it He revealed His glory, and His disciples believed in Him.
