“Yahweh himself is who goes before you. He will be with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you. Don't be afraid. Don't be discouraged.”
Moses says this to Joshua as he hands over leadership of an entire nation, right before they walk into a land they have never lived in. It is an enormous moment, and the reassurance is small and simple. God is already there.
Goes before you. That is the phrase worth taking with you today.
Anxiety is essentially about arriving somewhere alone and unequipped. The appointment, the conversation, the Monday, the result. In the version your mind builds, you show up by yourself and everything depends on you being ready enough.
This verse says God is there first. Whatever tomorrow holds, he has already arrived. He is not going to hear the news at the same moment you do. He is not waiting to see how it goes.
And then two promises that cover the ground between here and there. He will be with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you. Ahead of you, and beside you.
Notice the order in the verse. Do not be afraid comes after the reasons, not before them. God does not open with a command about your feelings. He tells you where he is, and the instruction follows from that.
So take the thing you are dreading and put it in that frame. Not: can I handle Thursday. But: God is already in Thursday, and he will walk me there.
He has been in every day you have already survived. Every one.

Prayer
God, You go before us. You are already in the days we are dreading, and You will not fail us or leave us. Quiet our fear about what is coming. Thank You for carrying us through every hard day behind us. Walk us into this one. Amen.
